Tourbillon, THE NEW BUGATTI GENERATION
About the author
The Legendary French automaker Bugatti is renowned for creating some of the most powerful and luxurious cars in the world. In 2004, Bugatti amazed the world with the 1,001 hp Veyron, a car that set new standards for luxury and performance. Then, in 2016, Bugatti raised the bar again with the 1,500 hp Chiron. Now, Bugatti is pushing boundaries even further with the Bugatti Tourbillon, a revolutionary hypercar that takes innovation to the next level.
The Tourbillon is powered by an all-new 8.3-liter V16 engine, paired with electric motors, producing a stunning total of 1,800 hp. This combination allows the car to exceed 400 km/h, making it one of the fastest cars in the world. The design is inspired by Bugatti’s rich heritage, featuring iconic elements like the horseshoe grille and dual-color paintwork.
Every detail of the Tourbillon is crafted for both performance and beauty. The car has advanced features like dihedral doors, that aren’t to be confused with suicide doors, that open with the push of a button. Dihedral doors open upwards at an angle, providing easier access in tight spaces and adding a striking look, often seen in high-end sports cars. In contrast, suicide doors open backward with hinges at the rear, creating a wider entrance and a classic aesthetic, popular in luxury and vintage cars. and a special rear diffuser that keeps it stable at high speeds.
Inside, the car is a blend of timeless elegance and modern luxury. Instead of relying on digital screens, the Tourbillon boasts an intricate analog instrument cluster made by Swiss watchmakers, giving it a classic yet sophisticated feel. The interior is designed for comfort and style, with a mix of crystal glass and anodized aluminum. Even the seats are fixed to the floor for a lower, sportier driving position, but with adjustable pedals to fit any driver. Hidden away is a high-definition screen that can pop up to display important information when needed.

Jacob & Co. Tourbilion
An engineering masterpiece for the road
In 2019, Bugatti Automobiles and Jacob & Co. teamed up, merging their expertise in luxury and high-performance engineering to create unique timepieces inspired by hypercars. Since then Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co., describes working with Bugatti as a thrilling challenge, aiming to push the boundaries of watchmaking to new heights, mirroring Bugatti’s innovation in the automotive world. Their collaboration birthed the Bugatti Tourbillon, a watch that mirrors Bugatti’s hypersports car with intricate design elements and groundbreaking mechanics.
The Bugatti Tourbillon’s design incorporates ten elements directly drawn from Bugatti cars. Its case mimics the car’s shape, complete with a front grille and side radiator inlets. The watch features large sapphire openings resembling car windows, sub-dials modeled after the car’s dashboard, and a winding crown inspired by the car’s control knobs. A standout feature is its miniature V16 engine block automaton, crafted from transparent sapphire with titanium pistons and a delicate crankshaft. When activated, the crankshaft spins, and the pistons move, emulating the engine’s motion.
The V16 engine block automaton is a marvel, featuring 16 drilled cylinders housing titanium pistons, driven by a single-axis crankshaft.
When activated, this automaton sequence lasts 20 seconds, showcasing the intricate movement of the pistons. The tourbillon, designed to counteract gravity’s negative impact on accuracy, rotates every 30 seconds, enhancing precision. The hour and minute hands are retrograde, jumping back to zero after completing a 270-degree arc. Unique to this watch, the hour hand jumps every 60 minutes, adding to its complexity.
Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon watch is a limited edition of just 250 pieces—the same as the eponymous hyper sports car. The first 150 pieces are made in black DLC titanium at $340,000 each. This extraordinary timepiece is a testament to the collaborative spirit of two of the world’s most luxurious brands, combining cutting-edge technology and exquisite design.
