Derecho: The Storm Wears Pagani

Pagani Huayra 70 Derecho hypercar in Pearl Orange exposed carbon fiber

The Pagani Huayra 70 Derecho is a bespoke, few-off hypercar built by Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni division — a storm rendered in exposed carbon fiber. Unveiled as a world premiere at the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, it stands as the second of three exclusive Huayra 70 tributes created to celebrate the 70th birthday of Pagani’s founder and chief designer, Horacio Pagani.

Where most manufacturers mark a milestone with a limited edition, Pagani marks it with a philosophy made metal: a single, unrepeatable machine, conceived not for a production line but for a moment.

A Name Borrowed From the Sky

The Derecho takes its name from a rare and powerful atmospheric phenomenon — an organized storm system capable of producing straight-line winds of extraordinary force and speed. It is a reference that perfectly captures the spirit of the car: power that advances with continuity, precision, and pure impact, never deviating from its path.

That storm-born identity is written directly onto the bodywork. The Derecho’s exclusive livery pairs Pearl Orange with a deep, fully transparent Inky Blue that reveals the intricate fish-bone weave of Pagani’s carbon fiber beneath — a two-tone open-top roadster that treats its own construction as ornament. Inside, the cabin continues the story in Ceramic White and Tricolore Blue leather, with Pearl Orange accents on the steering wheel and gear knob, and «Huayra 70 Derecho» badging discreetly set into the door panels.

«Our daily commitment is to dedicate the utmost attention to every single detail, striving to approach that essential harmony between form and function, intellect and craftsmanship, just as Leonardo da Vinci taught us.» — Horacio Pagani

A V12 Built for This Car Alone

At the heart of the Derecho sits a 5,980 cc, 60-degree twin-turbocharged V12, hand-assembled in Affalterbach exclusively for Pagani by Mercedes-AMG. It produces 864 hp at 6,000 rpm and an immense 1,100 Nm of torque delivered across a wide, usable band from 2,800 to 5,900 rpm — enough to push the car to an electronically limited top speed of 350 km/h (217.5 mph).

Engineering Highlights

  • Powertrain: 5,980 cc twin-turbo V12 by Mercedes-AMG — 864 hp, 1,100 Nm of torque.
  • Transmission: Transverse seven-speed manual gearbox engineered by Xtrac, with an electromechanical self-locking differential — a fully mechanical shift experience increasingly rare at this end of the hypercar world.
  • Chassis: Central monocoque in Pagani’s proprietary Carbon-Titanium HP62 G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 composites, with front and rear subframes in chromium-molybdenum steel.
  • Suspension: Independent double-wishbone setup with upper rocker arms, helical springs, and electronically adjustable, interconnected shock absorbers.
  • Braking: Four ventilated Brembo carbon-ceramic discs — 398 mm front, 380 mm rear.
  • Tires: Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R — 265/30 R20 front, 355/25 R21 rear.

One of One, Priced Accordingly

As a fully bespoke commission from the Grandi Complicazioni division, the Huayra 70 Derecho was never intended for a price list. Pagani has not officially disclosed a figure, but industry estimates place its value between $5 million and $9.5 million, depending on the scope and depth of personalization requested by its owner.

It follows the Huayra Codalunga, the first of the three Huayra 70 tributes unveiled in 2022, with a third and still-secret model expected to complete the trilogy. Until then, the Derecho stands alone: a single car, built once, for one collector — proof that at Pagani’s highest level, exclusivity is not a marketing term. It is the entire point.
